An Easy Button to Increase Productivity by 65%

BKBG Business Blog,

How many times have you thought, I have too much to do and not enough time to do it?  If the response is more than once, here is a proven methodology that can increase productivity by 65%.  Designate a half day three times a week to “quiet time” for you and every member of your team.  During quiet time, there are no meetings, phone calls, email checks or any other distractions.  That time is dedicated to being laser focused on tasks that need to get done.

Today’s business world is characterized by too many meetings, texts, tweets, emails and other daily activities that divert attention, gobble valuable time and cause lack of focus.  A recent University of California Irvine study found that before the pandemic, the average worker checked their email 77 times a day.

Quiet time has been proven to produce extraordinary results.  A University of Michigan study conducted nearly 25 years ago still rings true today.  Studying a group of engineers tasked with developing a new printer, the researcher found that when the engineers were given quiet time three days a week for half a day where they could focus on their most important tasks, their productivity increased 65%.  An MIT study yielded similar results.  Companies that provided team members with three meeting free days say their productivity increase by 73%.
